Breast Cancer Newly Diagnosed

Decisions for breast cancer treatment can be made by both patients and doctors

While medical decisions were once left up to doctors, today the scenario is changing. Patients are better informed through information found in libraries, on the Internet and support groups. Sometimes there are several treatments to choose from, all of which have varying side effects and/or response profiles. Deciding which is best for an individual is increasingly becoming a choice shared by both doctor and patient. Since the decision affects the patient most directly, doctors are becoming more and more comfortable with making these decisions "in partnership" with their, now more knowledgeable, patient.
