Epilepsy Living with Epilepsy

Some people with epilepsy are not allowed to drive

People with epilepsy can often enjoy a full life and participate in the same activities as everyone else. However, they may have to make some lifestyle adjustments. These might include not driving, as any loss of control by a driver might not only injure them but others. When someone’s seizures are under control, however, driving is a possibility. Laws vary from state to state. While in some states people who can validate that they are seizure-free are legally allowed to drive, this is not mandated in others. Doctors advise that most other activities, including sports, are permissible. The one exception might be skydiving or scuba diving, where any loss of consciousness could prove harmful.
