Water exercise is a good choice for people who are overweight or obese
Many obese people cannot exercise long enough to burn enough calories to make the exercise useful. That's because they have to work against their weight every time they move. They are also more likely to develop injuries because of the extra pressure on their joints. But if they exercise in water, they may be more apt to stick it out longer. The buoyancy of water puts less stress on the joints and makes it easier to move around, allowing obese people to exercise for a longer period of time.
