Headache Headache Treatment

Some over-the-counter medications may cause rebound headaches.

Over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or aspirin may cause rebound headaches if they are taken for long periods of time and/or in larger amounts than the label instructs. These medications may be helpful if a person’s headache is mild and occurs infrequently, but you should ask your doctor about prescription medications or alternative treatments for chronic migraines.
