Going into a hot tub or being exposed to hot weather can cause a temporary worsening of symptoms in people with MS

In MS, the protective sheath around the nerves called myelin gets attacked by the immune system and, as a result, slows nerve impulses and produces the symptoms of MS. When body temperature is elevated, the nerves that have scarring don't conduct well and can become further impaired causing the worsening of symptoms such as muscle weakness and blurred vision. Generally, if a person experiences heat-related worsening of signs or symptoms they can be rapidly reversed by cooling down the body.
